Learning to write and Writing to Learn
Writing has two approaches that have become really useful in assisting students learn to write. The Process Approach and the Genre Approach. The Process Approach shows the students all the steps in the process to create a piece of writing. The Genre Approach helps teachers and students learn about different characteristics of genres of writing.
Writing to Learn
Informal reading is completed when students reflect on reading or learning they have completed to help them retain the information. The students may use various ways to complete this type of writing, for example, note taking, journaling, brainstorming, semantic mapping, quickwriting, and diagrams.
